Leeds United’s floodgates continued to flail as Tottenham ran riot in a four-goal rout at Elland Road.
The Yorkshire outfit had already conceded 16 goals in their previous four games before Spurs smashed three past them in the opening 45 minutes. The finishes from Matt Doherty, Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane were added to by Heung-min Son’s late strike.
Marcelo Bielsa made two changes from the 6-0 hammering at Liverpool in midweek. Robin Koch and Diego Llorente came in for Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo.
Antonio Conte did the same following their defeat at Burnley. Harry Winks replaced the injured Rodrigo Bentancur, while Doherty took Emerson Royal’s place.
The hosts had a glorious chance to take the lead early on. Pascal Struijk met Jack Harrison’s free-kick but headed wide when he should have hit the target.
Tottenham pushed back and Illan Meslier had to be out smartly to deny Kane a chance before he claimed a Son shot from range.
The Leeds goalkeeper couldn’t stop Doherty just before the 10 minute mark, though. Winks precisely found Ryan Sessegnon who crossed for his fellow wing-back to convert.
One became two five minutes later as Kulusevski cut in from the right and fired low into the bottom right corner.

Leeds were agonisingly close to finding an instant response. Koch’s side-footed effort hit the post and bounced out.
They maintained a spell of possession but then found themselves further behind thanks to Kane. He finished first time from a pinpoint Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg through ball.
Cries of handball rung out around the stadium after the ball bounced off Ben Davies’ thigh and onto his hand. VAR determined no penalty necessary.
Raphinha was trying hard to draw his side back into the game before half-time but Luke Ayling sent a header at the far post wide from his cross.
It’s got even worse for Leeds… 😩

Leeds helpless to contain Tottenham
Bielsa made two changes at the break with Klich and Rodrigo replacing Struijk and Harrison.
The game became scrappy after the restart with Sessegnon, Klich, Stuart Dallas and Junior Firpo all booked in quick succession.
Kane had a long-ball pass to Doherty on lock, and after the first attempt resulted in nothing, the second saw Meslier forced into a double-save by him and Son.
Despite his side being in control, Conte was booked for remonstrating about a decision from referee Craig Pawson.

Spurs’ talisman continued with his cross-field balls. This time he found Sessegnon who fired into the side netting.
Kulusevki was lucky to get away with a push in the back of Klich on the edge of the box before he saw his shot at the other end tipped round the post.
Leeds spurned their best chance yet with 15 minutes left. Dallas was bearing down on an open goal after intercepting Hugo Lloris’ pass, but Davies recovered to block his effort.
Rodrigo was booked before Conte introduced Emerson and Steven Bergwijn in place of Sessegnon and Kulusevski.

Bielsa also made a change with Firpo taken off and Jamie Shackleton entering the fray.
James was next to squander a chance as dragged his effort wide of the post.
Meslier denied Emerson a chipped-goal with a superb stop but could do nothing as Kane played Son in over the top and he finished into the back of the net.
Son made way for youngster Dane Scarlett and then Raphinha struck the post with a free-kick to compound his side’s misery.
