The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will make a record-breaking appearance as Manchester United face old rivals Leeds in the Premier League.
Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new Premier League record ahead of Manchester United’s match against Leeds.
The Portuguese ace starts for Sunday’s showdown at Elland Road. It’s the first time he will play in this part of West Yorkshire since October 2003 – exactly 18 years and 125 days ago.
In doing so, Ronaldo becomes the first player in Premier League history to have faced the same opponent with such a big gap in between.
CR7 will hope for a similar outcome today as he enjoyed in his last visit to Elland Road, where former United captain Roy Keane scored an 81st-minute goal to steer the Red Devils to a 1-0 win.
Leeds XI
In the Leeds line-up, Marcelo Bielsa has made just one change from the side that lost 3-0 to Everton last time out.
The Whites boss has replaced Raphinha, who was benched after 45 minutes at Goodison Park, with midfielder Adam Forshaw.
Manchester United XI
For the away side, Jesse Lingard makes his first start in the Premier League for United since New Year’s Day in 2020. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has also made Rangnick’s line-up. The right-back replaces Diogo Dalot, who will instead take a spot on the bench.
Paul Pogba has also returned to the line-up as part of the three changes Rangnick has made from the side that beat Brighton 2-0 midweek. Fred and Anthony Elanga join Dalot on the bench.
