Leonardo Jardim was today the only Portuguese coach not to taste defeat in the 18th round of the Saudi Football League, as José Gomes and Daniel Ramos saw their respective teams lose.
Al-Hilal, by Leonardo Jardim, got a 1-1 draw at Al Batin, while Al-Taawon, by José Gomes, was beaten at home by Al Nassr and Al Faisaly, by Daniel Ramos, lost in the reception to the leader Al-Ittihad, both by 1-0.
Leonardo Jardim’s team reached the break 1-0 down, following a goal from Angolan striker Fábio Abreu (former -Moreirense), at 31 minutes, but managed to restore the tie in the second half, at 54, from a penalty, by French forward Bafetimbi Gomis.
Al-Taawon, by José Gomes, resisted until the 80th minute, when Al Nassr scored the only goal of the match, in his own goal, for central Awn Al Saluli, while Al Faisaly, of Daniel Ramos, also failed towards the end, in the 88th, when he suffered I scored a goal by Al-Ittihad’s Brazilian striker, Romarinho.
Al-Ittihad leads with 41 points (17 games), followed by Al Nassr, with 35 (18), from Al Shabab, with 34 (18), and Al-Hilal, by Leonardo Jardim, who is ranked fourth, with 31 (17).
The teams coached by José Gomes and Daniel Ramos, Al-Taawon and Al-Faisaly, follow in 13th, with 17 points (18 games), first place above the relegation zone, and 15th, with 16 (17), respectively.
