Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski won the FIFA award for the best player of the year today
Lewandowski was shortlisted in front of Argentine Lionel Messi and Egyptian Mohamed Salah. He said he was proud to win the FIFA Player of the Year
“Thank you very much. Honored with the award and proud to have won this trophy. The award goes to both my teammates and coaches. We are all working hard to reach the goal. It is a privilege to work with these guys around me, “Lewandowski said.
The Pole scored 45 goals in 51 games for the club and the national team last season.
Lewandowski won the Bundesliga title and the World Club Championship with Bayern last season.
Also, the 33-year-old the striker managed to break the Bundesliga record by scoring 41 goals in 29 games. The previous record was held by Gert Miller with 40 goals in 34 matches during the 1971/72 season.

Levandovski scored eight goals in 12 national team qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.

He won the award in the competition between Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola and Italian coach Robert Mancini.
Tuhel managed to win the Champions League with Chelsea last season, beating Guardiola’s Manchester City in the final.
