Liverpool and Manchester United chasing Bundesliga defender

Liverpool will be looking to take a huge step towards securing a place in the Premier League’s top four when they travel to face Manchester City on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have challenged for the league title in recent seasons but this term they find themselves in a battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Reds currently sit sixth in the table, seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Following what has already been an underwhelming campaign, it appears that Liverpool are set to bolster their squad this summer.

According to Football Insiderboth Liverpool and rivals Manchester United hold an interest in Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.

The 23-year-old has impressed in the German top flight so far this season, making 24 Bundesliga appearances.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, though, and the report claims that the player has rejected a number of offers from his current side to extend his deal.

Ndicka looks likely to leave Frankfurt this summer

Ndicka’s current contract with Frankfurt is set to expire in the summer, meaning he will leave the club for free at the end of the season if an agreement isn’t reached before then.

The 23-year-old former France under-21 international joined his current club from French side Auxerre back in 2018 and has since made 174 appearances for Frankfurt.

It is also claimed that both Liverpool and United will look to strengthen their defensive options this summer, and Ndicka appears to be an option for both clubs.

The Red Devils could sell Harry Maguire, who has struggled for game time this season following the arrival of Lisandro Martinez.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will look for a new centre-back with Joe Gomez continuing to suffer from injuries.

Cameroon international Joel Matip could also leave Anfield this summer, with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.
