Liverpool looking to sign two new full-backs

Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points with victory over Leicester City on Thursday night.

The Reds fell behind at Anfield when Jordan Ayew put the Foxes in front, before Cody Gakpo drew the hosts level.

Curtis Jones then put Arne Slot’s side in front, before talisman Mohamed Salah added their third to take his goal involvement tally for the season to 34 in just 25 games.

The win extends the Reds’ victory to seven points, although Arsenal could reduce that advantage if they beat Ipswich Town on Friday.

In the meantime, it appears that Liverpool are hoping to sign players in two key positions in the coming months.

As per CaughtOffside, the Merseyside outfit are hoping to sign both a right-back and left-back.

The report claims that Liverpool are Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has emerged as a target at right-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold edging ever closer to the expiry of his current contract.

Alexander-Arnold’s future remains uncertain as he approaches the final six months of his contract

The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, and Liverpool are therefore working to sign a replacement in case he does depart.

It is also claimed that the Reda are eyeing a new left-back, with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez touted as a possible long-term replacement for Scot Andy Robertson.

Manchester United have also shown interest in Hungarian defender Kerkez, so Liverpool may face competition to sign the Cherries man.

Agreeing a new deal with Alexander-Arnold remains a high priority for those in charge of the club, who are also working to ensure that Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk stay put at Anfield beyond the end of their respective contracts next summer.
