M: The government has led the Riksdag behind the light

The moderates criticize the government’s work to get IS women to Sweden. – The government has on several points led the Riksdag behind the light, says Johan Forssell.

Responsible Minister Mikael Damberg strikes back and accuses M of spreading serious inaccuracies.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs worked for several months to plan for three IS women to be taken to Sweden. The women were expelled in early September from Kurdish autonomy in northern Syria. Documents that Aftonbladet has read

show that a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs traveled to the area several times and negotiated with representatives from the self-government so that the deportation could be made possible.

– This confirms what we moderates have always suspected and which the government has denied. That the Swedish government has been much more active in bringing these terrorists to Sweden, says Johan Forssell (M).

Why is it wrong?

– These are extremely dangerous people, who have participated in the world’s cruelest terrorist sect. There are no people we want to be in Sweden, says Forssell.

Great Secret Maker

Forssell says that Sweden has an obligation to accept citizens who are deported from other countries. But no obligation to assist in such an active way as the government has done in this case. He also believes that the whole work was surrounded by a great deal of secrecy. Responsible ministers have been questioned in the Riksdag, but then they have not provided information on how involved the government has been, he says.

Does not Sweden have an obligation to help the Kurds who say that they can not do this themselves?

– The question is how we help the Kurds if we let dangerous people out on our streets in Sweden. Most of these people will face freedom here. I have confidence in the authorities, but the Swedish legislation against terrorism is still extremely weak.

What do you base it on that they will be free?

– Just look. Very few have been able to be held accountable for the actions they have committed there.

Damberg strikes back

Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg (S) is not available for interview but leaves a written statement that the Government’s position has always been that people should primarily be prosecuted on the spot. If Swedish citizens are expelled from the region, Sweden, like other states, has an obligation to receive.

– In exactly the same way, we, and certainly also the Moderates, want other states to receive their citizens if they are expelled from Sweden. When people are deported, we have an interest in it happening in an organized way, an assessment that is also shared by the Security Police. The Swedish government’s approach in the event of deportations was presented to the Riksdag in the Justice and Foreign Affairs Committee on 17 June this year, says Damberg in the statement.

Damberg further writes that the Swedish security service, police and judiciary conduct extensive work towards deported women who return to Sweden.

– Last week, a person was arrested for war crimes. It is deeply irresponsible that the Moderates have disseminated grossly incorrect information about the work of the authorities.
