Man detained after woman dies in Cheung Chau

Police are investigating a suspected murder case in Cheung Chau early on Sunday in which a 54-year-old woman died.

They said they received a report just before 8am from a 43-year-old man that his 54-year-old girlfriend had collapsed in a hostel on Cheung Chau Beach Road.

The 54-year-old woman, who had neck injuries, was certified dead at scene.

Police said initial investigations indicated she had been assaulted.

They said they’ve classified the case as suspected murder and the 43-year-old man has been arrested, and the investigation continues.
