Manchester United’s players and staff have been taken out of action by suspected food poisoning after their trip to Moldova.
Up to 12 members of the first team set up were affected following last Thursday’s clash, with United fortunate to see their Premier League match against Leeds scheduled for Saturday postponed.
The game had already been put back before the news emerged, giving the stricken squad members time to recover.
The Sun claim team members began to feel unwell on Friday after returning from their 2-0 win over FC Sheriff in Tiraspol, but it’s unknown whether they picked up a potential virus in Moldova, or on the plane back.
A number of players missed training on Friday, but some recovered for training on Saturday before the squad split up for the international break.
It’s also been reported that those who have been called away on the final international break before the 2022 World Cup are seemingly unaffected, or have recovered in time.
United aren’t in action again until October 2 when they face their toughest task yet against neighbours Manchester City.
It’s unknown whether the planned game against Leeds would have been able to go ahead, with the match postponed due to police resources ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Thankfully for manager Erik ten Hag, the guilty batch of food must not have been digested until after their Europa League group game, where his side eased past FC Sheriff 2-0.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season in the victory, while Jadon Sancho also found the net, helping the team recover from their opening European defeat against Real Sociedad.
