Marek Magierowski appointed Polish ambassador in Washington

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Łukasz Jasina, confirmed on Wednesday in an interview with PAP that Marek Magierowski had obtained formal consent from the American side to take the position of the Polish ambassador in Washington.
“I can officially confirm that the procedure on the American side is over, we are happy about it and we are waiting for a move from the parliamentary committee “- said Jasina.
As he added, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that Magierowski will be able to take over the leadership of the Polish diplomatic mission in Washington before the end of this year. It depends, however, on when the Sejm formally approves the nomination of the current Polish ambassador to Israel.
Magierowski, who has been in the current position since June 2018. , is in Warsaw after Polish authorities decided in August not to return to Israel as a result of a diplomatic dispute. Previously, he was, among others head of the press office of the Chancellery President of the Republic of Poland, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and journalist.
He is to replace Piotr Wilczek in Washington, who took up the position of the Polish ambassador to the USA in November 2016. (PAP)
