Martínez extends at Ajax Amsterdam: Most valuable defender outside the top 5

Copa America winner

With a market value of 23 million euros, Lisandro Martínez is already the most valuable defender outside of the Top 5 Leagues. At the Eredivisie interim update at the beginning of next week, the 23-year-old central defender will improve even further. Ajax Amsterdam rewarded the consistently good performance of the Argentine Copa America winner with a contract extension.

Martínez, whose old contract would have expired in 2023, extended a long-term extension to Ajax until 2025. The left-footer was in 2019 for 7 million euros from Defensa y Justicia switched to the top Dutch club, where he has been one of the top performers ever since and won the double last year. “We have come so far with Martínez, it’s as good as done.
