The payment system, together with the developer of the video game Riot Games, launched an eco-project inside the League of Legends game
Mastercard and Riot Games launched the Play for the Jungle project in Brazil in League of Legends (LoL) to remind gamers and fans of the game to protect the Amazon rainforest, writes The Drum . “Through the project, we are inviting the League of Legends community to listen, learn and act to contribute to the restoration of endangered forests,” said Sara Buchwitz, VP Marketing and Communications, Mastercard Brazil.
The project was presented during a special match in LoL, in which 10 famous Brazilian gamers participated. The game has been broadcast on YouTube, Twitch and NimoTV. During the match, players fought monsters to protect the rainforest. “The jungle on the map is the most important place in League of Legends. Cutting off player access to this place is a great way to make people think about what is happening with the environment, ”said Carlos Antunes, director of esports at Riot Games.
Mastercard launched a project as part of the global initiative Priceless Planet Coalition , which aims to restore forests by planting 100 million trees in five years throughout the Amazon, Kenya and Australia.
