The ruling and opposition parties have decided to postpone the presentation of the amendment to the Media Arbitration Act at the plenary session, and to form a special committee in the National Assembly to discuss it until the end of the year.

Democratic Party floor leader Yun Ho-joong and People’s Strength floor leader Kim Ki-hyeon held a 29 meeting presided over by National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok. It was revealed that the final agreement was reached during the negotiations in Japan.
The special committee consists of 18 members from the ruling and opposition parties. Discussions will be made on the improvement of the media and media system in general, including the Media Arbitration Act, the Information and Communications Network Utilization Promotion and Information Protection Act, the Newspaper Promotion Act, and the Broadcasting Act. The active period was set until December 31.
Previously, the ruling and opposition parties held a meeting of the floor leaders under the presidency of National Assembly Speaker Park Byung-seok for three days from the 27th, but no compromise was reached. The Democratic Party proposed a proposal to delete the punitive damages system, which had been specified as ‘up to 5 times’, and the people’s power was in the position that the relevant provisions should be excluded.
