México espera que panel disputa con EU sobre reglas del sector automotriz se resuelva en el tercer trimestre

El gobierno mexicano solicitó la semana pasada el establecimiento de un panel para resolver sus diferencias con Estados Unidos en el tema, al que se sumó Canadá esta semana.

México espera que el panel de solución de controversias que solicitó sobre la interpretación de Estados Unidos a las reglas de origen del sector automotor en el marco del acuerdo comercial para América del Norte, el TMEC, se resuelva en el tercer trimestre del año, dijo el viernes la secretaria de Economía.

El gobierno mexicano solicitó la semana pasada el establecimiento de un panel para resolver sus diferencias con Estados Unidos en el tema, al que se sumó Canadá esta semana.

“El panel, nosotros consideramos, debe de resolverse a lo largo de este año. No es un proceso expedito y estaremos teniendo resultados esperamos que para el tercer trimestre”, dijo la secretaria, Tatiana Clouthier.

Según el pacto comercial, el 75% de los componentes de un vehículo deben originarse en América del Norte para calificar como libre de impuestos, frente al 62.5% bajo el TLCAN, que fue sustituido por el TMEC en 2020.

Los dos socios de Estados Unidos son partidarios de una interpretación más flexible de las regulaciones del tratado comercial y aseguran que la lectura de Washington es inconsistente con el TMEC.
