Microsoft offers way around the TPM 2.0 requirement in Windows 11

Among the system requirements for the new Windows 11, it is noted that the processor must be very new and that the computer must have a security module that complies with the tpm 2.0 standard.

Both of these requirements can be circumvented in different ways, and now Microsoft is making it a little easier for those who want to update to the new system. The idea is that users will not have to rely on scripts from unknown developers and the like, writes Bleeping Computer .

To fix the installation, you need to download an iso file with Windows 11 and use Microsoft’s tools to create installation media on a USB stick.

Next step is to open the Registry Editor and add a new key called AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM Setup MoSetup as a D-word with hexadecimal value 1.

After a restart you can run the Windows 11 installer from the installation media you first created, and now it will not complain about either the processor or a missing tmp 2.0 module.

However, Bleeping Computer points out that you are still needs a rpm 1.2 module, something that only had time to be baked into a few consumer computers before rpm 2.0 took over . If you do not have a rpm module at all, you need to use a more drastic method such as Universal Mediacreationtool.
