Microsoft Teams recordings will soon stop taking up space “forever” and this is good news. This is a function that arrives due to several requests from users as revealed by Microsoft. That said, the default storage duration for recordings will be 60 days or 30 days. However, administrators will be able to disable this if they do not want the recordings to disappear.
As I mentioned at the beginning, the default dates will be 60 or 30 days. But none of this is written in stone. So there may be changes. However, these values were not chosen by chance. Microsoft analyzed various data and found that 99% of online meetings are never seen beyond 60 days.
Whoever wants to stop the automatic deletion that has now been implemented, will have to resort to the Teams administration or use PowerShell.
This novelty will be available from the third week of January 2022.
However, and speaking of Teams, know that there is already a fix for the call bug.
This situation occurred in the United States and in this case specifically on a Pixel 3. A user had to urgently call 911 and found he couldn’t do it. Anyway, Google is aware of this issue and has already released the fix for the Pixel.
A discovery at the worst possible time
Whoever discovered this flaw did so at the worst possible time. The grandfather was having a heart attack and so the grandson tried to quickly call the emergency services. Now that’s when he realized he couldn’t do it. It rang once and after that the smartphone was in a kind of locked state. It was possible to access the apps but there was a call stuck in the background.
Shortly after, Google confirmed the existence of this flaw and managed to reproduce it in some circumstances. Apparently everything is due to an interaction between Teams and the Android operating system, but only in certain circumstances. That is, it affects those who installed the Microsoft app but did not enter the data.
Teams version 1416/1.0.0.2021194504 also fixed this issue.
