Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) chaired a limited meeting on the Food Security Ecosystem at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/10/2021). Also present at the meeting of the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
In a press statement after the meeting, Syahrul revealed that the meeting specifically discussed issues related to corn, chicken farmers, and so on.
According to him, efforts to strengthen the food ecosystem are carried out in three stages, namely cultivation, picking and processing and marketing.
In the first stage, namely cultivation, development is carried out so that the productivity of corn commodities continues to increase so that the national production target is met and even exceeds the target.
The second stage is processing and picking or postharvesting to processing. Syahrul said that processing means already in processes as needed, such as for feed and others.
The third stage is marketing.
“So the three stages are really The President requested that all ministers, especially me as the minister of agriculture, would play a role in cultivation, and be able to increase all our corn productivity, especially in the face of climate change, extraordinary changes in weather anomalies, both nationally and globally,” said Syahrul.
Furthermore, he said, Jokowi also ordered that the corn commodity be developed more widely, beyond what is currently available. Production results from these commodities are also optimized to meet domestic needs.
“We certainly hope that we can balance productivity and according to existing needs. And Mr President, if there is more, then we will export, export to sell our products,” he said.
