Minister of Education: Last Minute Announcement with Important Decision for Students, Schools

Ministrul Educatiei Anuntul Ultima Ora Hotararea Importanta Elevi Scoli

The Minister of Education has revealed a decision of the last hour he took for the benefit of millions of students from all Romanian schools, revealing what he managed to do in 2021, ie a doubling of the scholarship budget, and in 2022 a 4-fold increase over the year 2020.

The Minister of Education also says that for the coming years he will want to increase the budget for the scholarships that students receive, so it is expected that their value will increase as well. more from 2023, but maybe in the coming years, all for the good of the students.

“The number of reported bullying cases has increased. Totally inappropriate and intolerable behavior on the part of students towards other classmates of theirs. We have already started the national program to reduce school dropouts, we have over 3800 vulnerable schools enrolled in this program of the ministry.

Until 2020 the merit of the scholarships was recognized at a level of 6 LEI, 7 LEI, 8 LEI per month, in 2020 270 million were spent only from the mayors, the state did not give anything of the budget. In 2021, the budget doubled to 270 million, and the scholarships increased to a mandatory minimum amount of 100 LEI, regardless of the type of scholarship.

At the budget rectification I supported, and I obtained, from the Ministry of Finance, another 105 million LEI, from 540, so I increased to 645 million LEI , compared to 270 million LEI a year ago. In 2022 we obtained 1,031 million LEI, 4 times more than in 2020, so I will continue to fight for the increase of the students’ scholarship fund.

I will continue to fight to increase the amount of these scholarships. The performance that was last year of 100 LEI per month, is now rewarded with 500 LEI per month, the merit scholarship that was 100 LEI per month in 2020, is 200 LEI per month now. The scholarship granted from the average 7.50, plus income criteria for family members, was 100 LEI per month, now it is 150 LEI.

I will continue to support, and I am optimistic that I will succeed in increasing the amount of these scholarships, but the merit scholarship has been very much focused, which is one of the 6 types of existing scholarships. ” declared the official of the Government.
