Mint Field’s ‘El Suspiro Cambia Todo’ Is A Psychedelic Gateway

Mexico City based psych project Mint Field have shared new single ‘El Suspiro Cambia Todo’.

The group – which hinges on vocalist/guitarist Estrella del Sol and bassist Sebastian Neyra – are augmented on drums by Callum Brown, who is also a follower traveller with Ulrika Spacek. New album ‘Aprender a Set’ lands on October 27th, the closing chapter of a journey which extends to those pre-pandemic days.

Taking their time over this album, Mint Field’s deliberations add a sense of purpose to their work. New single ‘El Suspiro Cambia Todo’ is a psychedelic gateway, a swirling mesh of lysergic sound that feels like a gentle exhalation.

This ‘sighing’ impact is by design, with Mint Field aiming to recall the release of emotion. The band comment:

“Sighing is the desire for melancholy. It denotes that something is happening. Sometimes we just need to sigh to let go. Sighing is something we do unconsciously but it says a lot about what is going on inside our mind.”

Director Rodrigo Pérez-Galicia constructed the video, which aims to mimic the ‘sighing’ effect of the music itself. He comments…

An exploration of the different stages of a single verb: ‘Suspiro’ or ‘Sigh’. It’s both physiological and a psychological reaction that applies in many emotional stages. It’s a punctuation mark for our train of thought. It marks a rhythm in our lively experience. We wanted to capture that feeling when our body demands a ‘sigh’” on the visuals.
