MLB fans had so many jokes when the Marlins and Padres amazingly had a Burger-King matchup

It’s been a tough season thus far for Marlins third baseman Jake Burger. He’s hitting .189, and you’re not going to find much intrigue in most of his at-bats.

Monday afternoon’s game against the Padres was certainly an exception to that.

With the Padres starting Michael King for the Memorial Day matchup, we’re all grateful that Skip Schumaker penciled in Burger on his lineup card. Because it brought everyone one of the best name matchups between hitter and pitcher we’ll see this season.

BURGER vs. KING. It’s iconic.

The Bally Sports scorebug was perfect for this sort of matchup as we got to see “Burger” and “King” side by side on the graphic.

Burger struck out in both is plate appearances against King, so we were robbed of any “Whopper” puns that could have followed a home run. But the matchup was enough to have MLB fans making jokes.
