News Investigators/ No fewer than five suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Ekiti State, the police command has announced.
The announcement was made known on Tuesday in a statement issued by the command.
The arrest is coming on the heels of a marching order given to the police authorities to ensure the immediate arrest of the killers of the two traditional rulers in Ekiti State and the release of abducted school pupils on Tuesday.
It was not clear if those arrested are connected with the gruesome killing of the monarchs.
The command said the arrest followed the joint operation carried out by the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oodua People’s Congress and local hunters.
The team, it was disclosed, went from Oke-Osun, Ikere/Igbo-Okah to the thick forest around Iju/Ikere boundary.
The arrested suspects, the command said, were identified as Usman Jelili, Mohammed Bande, Abubakar Aliu, Isah Abdullahi and Suleiman Abdulahi, who claimed to be herdsmen.
The command said it was however discovered that none of them had cattle and there was no cattle in the forest where they were found.
Recovered from them are two motorcycles, one cutlass, one jack knife/dagger and four phones.
