In de categorie goed voorbeeld doet volgen. In navolging van Netflix verhoogt ook Amazon Prime de prijzen voor een abonnement.
Op dit moment merken we er nog niets van, omdat deze ontwikkelingen zich in Amerika afspelen. Maar kijk er niet gek van op als we vroeg of laat ook weer meer moeten gaan betalen voor diverse streamingdiensten. Recent werd bekend dat Netflix in Amerika de prijzen verhoogd en nu doet Amazon Prime exact hetzelfde.
De Amerikanen moeten twee dollar per maand meer gaan betalen. Het abonnement was 13 dollar per maand, maar gaat nu naar 15 dollar. Het jaarabonnement wijzigt van 119 naar 139 dollar. De inflatie is hier in Europa al fors, maar harkt de Verenigde Staten er nog veel harder in. De prijzen in Amerika gaan daardoor flink omhoog, niet alleen Netflix en Amazon Prime.
Hier in Nederland is Prime met een maandbedrag van 3 euro relatief spotgoedkoop. Als je Amazon Prime vergelijkt met concurrenten zoals Netflix en Disney+ tenminste. Vandaar dat we Prime ook aanhaalden in het lijstje met 4 goedkopere alternatieven op Netflix. Amazon is bewust een klap goedkoper om marktsegment te winnen in Nederland. Vandaar dat het in thuisland de Verenigde Staten van Amerika een stuk duurder is.
