More details have emerged about the Tom Cruise-led untitled film to be shot in outer space.
In 2020 came word Cruise, director Doug Liman and writer Christopher McQuarrie were working on a $200 million project to be shot in space with the help of Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Variety today reports that Universal Pictures intends to begin production sometime next year with the studio waiting for Liman Liman to deliver the script he is co-writing with McQuarrie.
This is expected to be Cruise’s next film once he and McQuarrie finish shooting “Mission: Impossible 8” which began production late last year.
The action-adventure story has Cruise playing a “down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth.”
The feature will only be ‘partially shot’ on the International Space Station, most of the footage will be done on Earth and some also being obtained via a rocket.
Cruise can next be seen in “Top Gun: Maverick” on May 27th, “Mission: Impossible 7” on July 14th 2023, and “Mission: Impossible 8” on June 28th 2024.
