No one has yet been convicted of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
Now the investigators in the case state that they have received new “shocking” evidence.
They must point out even more clearly against the main suspect Christian Brückner, reports The Mirror.
German Christian Brückner has been convicted of, among other things, child abuse and child pornography. He is also the main suspect in the Madeleine McCann case – and has officially been since the summer of 2020.
So far he has not been charged with the crime. But now the investigators state that they have received new evidence that strengthens the accusations.
The new information in the case has been submitted by a group of documentary filmmakers working for the German TV channel Sat.1. They have been investigating the case for several months – and claim to have found previously unknown traces that lead to Brückner, reports The Mirror.
Disappeared for more than 14 years
Madeleine “Maddie” McCann disappeared during a family vacation in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2007. She was only three years old when it happened, and the case has received a lot of attention in the years since.
The investigators’ theory is that the girl was abducted and murdered.
In their work, the documentary makers have found that Brückner was close to the place where Maddie disappeared. They also spoke to German people in the vicinity of the suspect, who were able to give detailed descriptions of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Investigated shocking material”
A trailer for the documentary describes how journalist Jutta Rabe and her colleagues “investigated shocking material in Germany, Portugal and England” in recent months. The findings are further described as “directing strong accusations” against Brückner, writes The Mirror.
The chief prosecutor in the case has not yet commented on the new evidence.
Brückner, for his part, has denied any wrongdoing.
