New National Awards for content creators and influencers? - Government’s plan

The government bestows the talents in the cinema industry with National Film Awards yearly to acknowledge the artists’ contribution to art and society. According to sources, they are now planning to announce a first-of-its-kind National Creators’ Awards to recognize content creators and influencers.

The Press Trust of India confirmed that the government is considering this. Reportedly, This National Creators’ Awards is claimed to be aimed at the “Gen Z” generation, who are immersed in the internet and social media. Under 20 categories, the influencers and creators from various platforms such as Youtube and Instagram are to be honoured.

It is being said that the creators who have helped spread the country’s soft power and culture at an international level is one of the highly considered categories while the others include “green championsâ€, “swachhta ambassadorsâ€, “agro creators†and “tech creatorsâ€. They said the awards will be on the lines of the national film awards, which recognise films in different languages and categories.
