In mid-September to Samsung
released the first beta version of One UI 4.0 for the Galaxy S21 range. The initial version arrived with new design elements and more customization opportunities, eventually in preparation for Android 12.
However, just over a month later the second update for the One UI 4.0 beta has arrived. It comes with lots of features including bug fixes and system improvements. One of the new features that deserves more attention is the new RAM Plus function.
In practice, it has the ability to give the smartphone another 4GB of memory. But how is this possible? In reality, the operating mode is based on an old principle that is widely used in PCs. Such virtual memory. This turns part of the storage capacity into RAM memory. Go get, for example, 4GB from the space the smartphone uses to store photos, songs
and other content and is now used for memory. However, and although virtual memory helps in many things, it does not fully replace the physical memory RAM
of the device. This is because it is slower.
In any case we will notice much more speed in loading applications, but this is because they are always running in the background. At least part of it.
However, it is not possible to operate this function. That is, we cannot adjust the memory capacity we have. Furthermore, it cannot be turned on or off either.
Another big news is the inclusion of the Material You color themes. In other words, the colors of the operating system adapt to the wallpaper we choose. Unfortunately things are still not perfect and this system has still been implemented in One UI with some bugs. In reality there are more inconsistencies. Anyway it’s nothing surprising in the beta version.
Samsung also mentions a new function for the video calls that we use lets you choose the sound we want the microphone to focus on.
In the new version, an issue with the secure folder has also been resolved.
Anyone who is already registered in the One UI 4.0 beta program is entitled to this update. If that’s your case, update as it’s really worth it!
