US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken suggested that Russia could provoke to justify a new invasion of Ukraine
Blinken said this at a briefing, reports “RBC-Ukraine”
“No one should be surprised if Russia arranges provocation or incident, and then try to use it to justify military intervention (in Ukraine – ed.), hoping that when the world realizes that this was a ploy, it will be too late, “said Blinken.
Earlier it was reported that Blinken talked by phone with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, assuring him of his “unwavering support” in opposing Russia’s aggression and declaring the solidarity of NATO countries in this matter.
- It will be recalled that on January 7, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of NATO member states met in extraordinary session , agreeing on positions before the NATO-Russia Council meeting.
- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after the meeting that diplomacy is in dialogue with Russia may be “defeated” .
- January 10, two days before the Russia-NATO Council meeting in Brussels a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission will be held to discuss security issues.
- Previously in Moscow without the participation of Ukraine a meeting of political advisers of the Normandy format took place.
