Nominate YOUR Game of the Year for the Pocket Gamer People's Choice Award 2022

If you’re thinking, “Isn’t the PG People’s Choice Award back a little sooner than expected and yet a little later than usual?” then we’d say, “Yes” and “Covid”.

(Sensible answer: Last year’s People’s Choice suffered a six-month delay due to pandemic-related disruption, which has also impacted the 2022 edition – although we’re gently working our way back to the normal schedule.)

But we’d mostly congratulate you for paying attention and for clearly being one of our veteran readers. To you, the fact that we’re once again asking you to share your favourite mobile gaming experience of the previous 12 months as part of the PG Mobile Games Awards (run by our industry-focused sibling site, PocketGamer.biz) might provide a reassuring dose of regularity in a world too often lost to chaos.

Who? What? When now?

We’re asking you to nominate your top gaming experience of 2021.

Only you’ll know what stood out for you, but we’d love you to share it with us so that game – and the team behind it – gets a chance to have its greatness showcased.

You can do this by filling in this simple form before midnight on February 11th.

We’ll then collate all the entries, work out the finalists, and present these for you to vote on. Once that’s done, the winner will get announced during the PG Mobile Games Awards on April 5th. As the only award nominated for and voted on by the players, it’s always a hotly contested affair and one of the ceremony’s highlights.

Lastly, all competitions need rules. But that doesn’t mean they have to be complicated:

  • Eligible games must have received a full launch between January 1st and December 31st 2021
  • You can nominate more than once (if you have multiple ‘game of the year’ picks)
  • Eligible games must have been available on iOS or Android platforms
  • The closing date for nominations is Friday, February 11th, 2022

Vagante review

An excellent, deceptively unshowy blend of platformer and roguelike. For a genre defined by unpredictability, roguelikes often sound staggeringly boring. These are games for initiates, cast in the image of celebrated forebears - you at least have to know what Rogue is, whereas a first-person shooter speaks for itself. They are also firmly systems-led to…
