Americký rockový spevák Iggy Pop, známy ako “krstný otec punku” a francúzsky orchester Ensemble intercontemporain (EIC), venujúci sa súčasnej klasickej hudbe, získali švédsku hudobnú cenu Polar Music Prize za rok 2022. Informovala o tom v utorok tlačová agentúra AP.
Podľa poroty spevák a skladateľ Iggy Pop (74), vlastným menom James Newell Osterberg, “vytvoril zúrivú rockovú hudbu skombinovaním bluesových a free-jazzových vplyvov s hlasovým prejavom michiganského automobilového priemyslu”.
Umelec je spolu so svojou bývalou kapelou The Stooges často označovaný za jedného zo zakladateľov hudobného žánru punk-rock, ktorý sa vyvinul koncom 60. rokov. Porota ďalej uviedla, že spevák svojou tvorbou pripravil cestu k vzniku punku a post-punku, pričom bol vzorom pre skupiny ako Sex Pistols či Ramones.
Orchester Ensemble intercontemporain založil v roku 1976 už zosnulý skladateľ Pierre Boulez. Súbor sa zameriava na súčasnú klasickú hudbu a preslávil sa objavovaním nových hudobných oblastí a umeleckých prejavov ako tanec, divadlo alebo technika.
Ocenenie Polar Music Prize, ktorého súčasťou je i peňažná prémia milión švédskych korún (približne 95-tisíc eur), udeľujú každoročne jednotlivcom, skupinám a inštitúciám ako uznanie ich výnimočných výsledkov v oblasti hudby.
Cenu založil v roku 1989 Stig Anderson, švédsky publicista, textár a bývalý manažér skupiny ABBA, ktorý stojí aj za založením hudobného vydavateľstva Polar Music.
