OG Maco Pronounced Dead At 32 After Hospitalization From Gunshot To Head

Rapper OG Maco has sadly passed away last night (Dec. 26) in a Los Angeles hospital after spending weeks there for a gunshot wound to the head. TMZ Hip Hop reports that the “U Guessed It” rapper had been hospitalized since Dec. 12, and died while family sat at his bedside.

Sources close to the situation revealed that Maco’s condition deteriorated after falling into a coma, eventually slipping into critical condition. Despite doctors’ efforts, which included attempts to perform a full brain scan and flush toxins from his system, Maco tragically could not be revived.

OG Maco’s passing comes days after his family posted an update on his health, revealing that he was in “critical but stable condition.” The update read: “We want to inform OG Maco’s fans, friends and supporters that he is currently in critical but stable condition. He is receiving the best possible care and we are staying hopeful as he continues to fight.”

“At this time, we kindly request that you respect our privacy but if you would like to send us any messages or have anything you wish to get to the family, please reach out via DM.” The statement continues: “Please note, all official updates regarding OG Maco’s health will come directly from his official social media accounts. This will be the only source for valid information.”

Earlier rumors of a suicide attempt had also been circulating online after reports were made that police found a firearm close to the 32-year-old upon arriving at the scene. Reportedly, a neighbor called 911 after hearing the sound of a gunshot.

However, it has not been determined how he suffered a gunshot to the head.

The Atlanta native first rose to fame in 2014 with his viral hit “U Guessed It,” which became an anthem at the time in Hip-Hop and solidified his place with QC Records. His momentum even earned him a spot on the coveted 2015 XXL Freshman list, alongside Vince Staples, K Camp and more.

Fans and friends alike are sharing tributes online, remembering OG Maco for his talent and energy.

VIBE sends condolences to the family, friends and fans of OG Maco.
