Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2 Disaster Proves AI Scores Far Worse Than Official Judges

After months of heated exchanges, relentless trash talk, and lofty promises, the results are finally in. Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning WBC, WBA, and WBO heavyweight champion, has successfully defended his titles against Tyson Fury. But just when it seemed the story had reached its climax, an unexpected twist emerged—one that no one could have predicted.

Every single soul watching the fight unfold would accept the fact that despite Fury’s loss, the fight itself was razor close. Some would even say closer than their previous skirmish. While ‘The Gypsy King’ started the fight strong in the early rounds, Usyk broke Fury’s momentum in the middle rounds.

Fury found his rhythm in the later rounds, but Usyk delivered a masterclass in the championship rounds, securing the edge he needed. The bout was the very definition of a closely contested battle—though the judges didn’t seem to think so. All three scored the fight 116-112 in Usyk’s favor. But hold on, the drama doesn’t end there.

Renowned boxing journalist Dan Rafael revealed an even more surprising twist. The AI judge scoring the fight had it overwhelmingly in Usyk’s favor with a score of 118-112. Expressing his disbelief, Rafael wrote on X, “The AI judge had Usyk winning 118-112. Huh??????????”

This is undoubtedly proof of AI’s shortcomings and why relying solely on it is far from feasible—not that the actual scores from the ringside judges were anything to write home about either. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk seems to have accepted a challenge for his next fight.

Before the fight, ‘The Cat’ had hinted at a bold ambition to drop back down to the cruiserweight division and reclaim all the belts once again. However, when IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois took the stage demanding a rematch and branding their first encounter a robbery, Usyk was not about to back down.

Oleksandr Usyk defeated Daniel Dubois last August with a ninth-round knockout. However, the victory was shrouded in controversy due to a low blow from Dubois that sent the Ukrainian champion crashing to the canvas. Usyk immediately turned to His Excellency Turki Alalshikh and asked him to make the fight happen.

If this fight materializes, Usyk could seize the opportunity to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, while Dubois would be vying for his first shot at achieving the prestigious title.

Having said that, the judging problem in boxing doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. While AI was a hope for several, tonight it has proven itself to be utterly useless. Do you agree or the AI scoring was onto something?
