‘Only 40% Completed’, Mission Impossible 8’s Delayed Release Date Explained

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is expected to be out soon, and it will answer some probing questions asked by its predecessor, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The plot details of Part 2 are still under wraps, and we don’t know much about new additions to the already star-studded cast.

However, we expect ‘The Entity’ to be back to haunt Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team.

Dead Reckoning Part One ended on a massive cliffhanger that started a mad chase by the IMF to destroy the elusive Entity, with one of Ethan Hunt’s crew dead and the entire team pushed to the limits.

The film was supposed to be done and dusted long before its current release date. The delay is because of a plethora of reasons that have accounted for several setbacks.

Mission Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part Two is currently set to release onJune 28, 2024.This will be just one year after the release of Dead Reckoning Part One, giving the audience plenty of time to watch the previous installments before embarking on the next journey with Ethan Hunt.

However, director McQuarrie has revealed that the filming is only 40% completed as of now.

Initially, the delay was thought to be due to the infamous WGA strike. However, Deadline later corrected it, explaining that the break in filming was to allow Cruise and McQuarrie to promote Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One.Once the promotional tours are completed, work on Dead Reckoning Part Two will resume later this summer.

Assuming everything goes according to plan, we can see Ethan and his team again next summer. Hopefully, the stop-start production of Dead Reckoning won’t delay the film’s release drastically.

When will we see a Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part Two trailer?

There’s currently no trailer available for Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part Two, but we can expect the first look to arrive soon after the release of Part One.

Paramount will likely delay the release of Part Two’s trailer to avoid any spoilers for Dead Reckoning Part One.

That being said, the filming is only around 40% done. So, we can expect a trailer no sooner than the end of this year!
