Pope Francis criticized couples who prefer to have pets instead of children. The speech has reverberated in the face of the increase in the number of people who call themselves “parents of pets”.
“Today we see a form of selfishness . We see that some do not want to have children. Sometimes they have one, but there are dogs and cats that occupy this place”, said the leader of the Catholic Church.
The speech given this Wednesday (5) during the first general audience of the year, in the Paul VI room, in the Vatican.
During the speech, the Pope praised paternity and adoption, asking to institutions that facilitate the adoption processes, so that the dream of children in need becomes a reality of a family and that of couples who wish to host them.
