Pastor Artur Pawlowski was arrested on Monday (27) while returning to the Canadian city of Calgary on a private flight, after a month-long tour in the United States, where he met with right-wing activists.
The arrest was made at the airstrip by officials from the Border Services Agency of Canada (CBSA). He was arrested for crimes committed this year: not wearing a mask (on March 13th) and disobeying a court order (on June 5th).
Pawlowski’s lawyer, Sarah Miller, considered his arrest “illogical”, as his alleged crimes would have taken place before his trip to the US. The pastor was released 7 hours after the arrest, through the performance of his lawyer.
Pawlowski and his brother, Dawid Pawlowski, have previously been detained for “contempt” for promoting services without following state guidelines Covid-19 and keep police from entering your church. They will be tried in a Canadian court on Oct. 13. The pastor said their arrest was “absolutely disgusting” and that he failed to post bail or appear in court. “Everything they’re doing to me symbolizes the government’s tyranny,” Pawlowski told the Rebel News website.
