In Alaska, leaves fall, daylight decreases, and brown bears that eat salmon race against time to gain weight, they need to survive during hibernation.
Unknowingly, they compete in Fat Bear Week in Katmai National Park and Reserve. It is a celebration of greed and natural abundance in Alaska, which is held every year.
For seven days from Wednesday, wildlife enthusiasts will vote online in a competition between the 12 most fat brown bears in the park, photographed near the salmon-rich Brooks River
The winner will be announced on October 5.
