The Vicar General of the Diocese of Cuernavaca, Tomás Toral Nájera , confirmed that the photograph released by the OEM where the governor appears, Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo along with three alleged leaders of criminal groups, was taken at the church “La Asunción” in Yautepec.
Since the Cuernavaca Cathedral, Tomás Toral rejected that the Catholic Church has links with organized crime, and affirmed that this photograph was taken on December 12, 2018 because coincidentally the president of Morelos was there .
Based on that date, December 2018, Cuauhtémoc Blanco had concluded his term as municipal president of Cuernavaca (2015-2018) and was serving two months as head of the state government.
The also rector of the Cathedral said that the parish priest Juan Alvarado, who at that time officiated the religious celebrations in the “La Asunción” parish, did not know which characters were present and he could only recognize Cuauhtémoc Blanco because “you can’t help but see that he is the governor.”
“He (Father Juan) remembers that on one occasion on December 12, they were present there, but he simply did not know, just as he did not know what characters were there , more than the governor, who cannot help but see who is the governor.
“It is a mass on December 12 where the people go, the crowd goes, of course he saw the governor, he was there, but not in another sense, but in the sense of let it be as they say, some interpreter of the situation ”, declared Toral Nájera.
With the declaration of the vicar of the Diocese of Cuernavaca, it was ruled out that the photo had been taken in the house of the president of Morelos, as inferred by the political opposition, and in accordance with that statement, the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe is one of the most important dates for Catholicism, which gathers hundreds of parishioners in each church every year.
Toral Nájera specified that priests do not have the obligation to know in depth the people who come to the parishes to request the different religious services, nor do they have to know who or what is dedicated the person who goes to them, for which he affirmed that the parish priests are for the parishioners, who have the right to request some service.
In this sense, Tomás Toral pointed out that they have to carry out an investigation to clarify the facts and end the interpretations.
The photograph where the governor poses with Irving Eduardo Solano Vera, “El Profe”, alleged leader of Guerrero Unidos and the CJNG; Homero Figueroa Meza, “La Tripa”, head of the Tlahuica Command, and Raymundo Isidro Castro, El Ray, of the CJNG, the latter murdered in 2019, in the Atlacholoaya prison, sparked a strong controversy and the governor immediately denied having met the three alleged members of organized crime.
A day later a banner was hung in three municipalities of the state where they threatened Blanco with disclosing information about the murder of Samir Flores, a staunch opposition activist to the Morelos thermoelectric plant.
