The region Piura remains on health alert, after confirming four deaths and more than 4,500 cases of contagion due to the Dengue , reported the director of Health Intelligence of the Diresa, Eddy Leyva Villalonga. This in the framework of the new coronavirus pandemic that affects the entire country.
The districts included in the declaration of emergency by the Ministry of Health are: Morropón, San Juan de Bigote, Chulucanas, Sullana, Tambogrande, Castilla, Piura, Lobitos and El Alto.
These districts are the most affected with dengue because the population lacks drinking water, therefore, it is stored in tanks, which favors the reproduction of the mosquito aedes aegypti , so the health authority asked the population to keep them covered to control the vector.
The Minsa has announced that it will transfer about 3 million soles to initiate immediate actions of vector control and fumigation.
The regional director of Health of Piura , José Nizama Elías, said that they need a budget to hire community agents to take care of the Eliminate mosquito breeding sites house by house and apply pyriproxyfen or abate, a chemical product to prevent the mosquito from reaching its adult state.
Dengue is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. It is a disease that affects people of all ages, with symptoms that vary from a mild fever to a disabling fever, accompanied by severe headache, pain behind the eyes, pain in muscles and joints.
