The American League Wild Card race is going down to the final day of the season — and even that might not be enough to decide which of four teams earn the final two postseason berths that remain up for grabs.
The Yankees sealed their destiny with a walk-off victory over the Rays on Sunday that clinched their spot in the Wild Card Game. They are still awaiting the results of the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Mariners to decide where and whom they will be playing. If the Red Sox win, the two rivals are guaranteed to meet in the AL Wild Card Game on Tuesday in Boston.
However, if the Red Sox lose and the Blue Jays win, it would set up a tiebreaker between the two teams for the second Wild Card spot.
