Portugal head coach Santos did not include Ronaldo in the top three players of the year
FIFA has published the voting results for the 2021 Player of the Year award.
The captains and head coaches of the national teams, media representatives and fans took part in the voting. Captains, coaches and journalists had to choose the top three players at the end of the year. The first place gave 5 points, the second – 3, the third – 1.
Head coach of the Portuguese national team Fernando Santos did not include the captain of the Portuguese national team in his top three Cristiano Ronaldo. Santos placed N’Golo Kante first, Jorginho second (both from Chelsea), and Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) third.
Let us remind you that Lewandowski became the best player of 2021 according to the results of voting. The top three, in addition to the Pole, included Mohamed Salah from Liverpool and Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain.
Lewandowski was the top scorer in 2021. On account of his 69 goals in 59 matches for Bayern and Poland. Robert scored 43 league goals, 11 in the Champions League, 2 in the German Supercup, 2 in the Club World Cup and 11 for Poland.
