So far, Google Maps for Android has unfortunately only five individual widgets that lead the user to five different functions. But Google is working on new widgets that should be available soon. As the first recipients of the innovation could already report, Google has designed a new generous search widget for maps.
Google is expanding the widget range of its Android apps
This new widget allows you to quickly find something on Google Maps to search. Either by entering text or by pressing one of the buttons offered. On the first screenshots you can see that these buttons can, for example, quickly start the search for restaurants or gas stations.
Very practical for heavy users who often use Google Maps for this.

This new widget, as Mishaal Rahman shows us, was first available on iOS. Like more screenshots from 9to5Google , the widget does not have to have a fixed order or always have the same buttons. Keys for bakeries, shops, pharmacies or hotels can also be stored. In addition, it doesn’t always have to be a maximum of four buttons. In short: the new widget is flexible and can be freely adapted!
It should take another few weeks for this widget to be available to everyone. Google will probably first target users who are already using Android 12 on the way.
