Although raised in Kentucky, pop duo Twinjabi’s Neil and Kush Nijhawan have steadily found fans in India with their Hindi-English bops. That includes everything from “Bombay” to “Brown Magic” and other singles.
This time around, however, Twinjabi turn to Latin pop hues on their new song “A Mi Tambien.” Like a ton of songs that have scaled the charts in recent years with the Latin music explosion in the U.S., the song — produced by Dustin Q –might come across as a grab at being very current, but you suspend most of those questions once you get into the groove of things. Staying true to their desi roots, the hook offers a reference to 2005 Bollywood caper Bunty Aur Babli.
The duo say in a statement, “’A Mi Tambien’ is a special song that any romantic can relate to. We sing about the girl that’s been through it all when it comes to love, but still prays to god that she will ‘find the one.’ The melodies, lyrics, and vibe of the song is something that just all came together, and we hope this track becomes your own pop anthem.”
“A Mi Tambien” follows Twinjabi’s 2021 songs like “Teju” and “Talk of the Town,” which has seen them channel a bit of synth-pop a la The Weeknd, while still retaining their Hindi-English hooks.
