The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, conveyed to his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, his wish for a speedy recovery from COVID-19.
In his Twitter account, the Cuban president expressed that wish personally and on behalf of the Party, the Government and the people of Cuba, who always thank him for his unchanging solidarity.
Yesterday, the Mexican statesman reported on the same social network that he was infected with the disease, and although the symptoms are mild, he indicated that he would remain in isolation and would only do office work and communicate virtually until he got ahead.
The president has already suffered from the disease before, in January 2021. He is vaccinated with the dose against COVID-19 from the AstraZeneca laboratory and received a reinforcement on December 7.
Mexico, of 129 million inhabitants, has registered an increase in contagion in recent days. The coronavirus, although deaths have remained stable, according to official figures.
The country registered 4.1 million confirmed cases and 300,412 deaths as of yesterday Monday.
