The streaming market in Italy seems a bit like a three-way battle

According to the data collected by JustWatch , of the main streaming services in Italy only Disney + showed significant growth in 2021, of around 4% compared to the beginning of the year. Prime Video and Netflix , but also TimVision and Infinity have all declined somewhat over the course of the year, probably due to the rise of Disney +.

You can see the morale at the end of the year illustrated below: Netflix in command, with 29% share , followed by Prime Video with a solid 27%. In third place, relatively far, is 17% of Disney + , but it is a percentage of market share of all respect, especially considering the youth of the service. The top 5 is closed ex-aequo from NowTV and TimVision at 6%, while at 4% we find Sky Go and 3% Infinity .

The streaming market is still at a turning point : Netflix is recently collapsed on the stock market due to its growth estimates, lower than those of analysts, and all this in spite of the last year’s subscriber record . Looking at the Italian situation alone, it is not difficult to understand the reason for this crisis: so much competition , in a market that seems to be starting to show signs of having reached its plateau, it means that the already marginal room for growth will be shared between several contenders, and the Top players of now will have a hard time if they want to stay in the lead. Moreover the market does not respect “the elderly” , and not even “smart” Italians do it …
