The PT bench in the Chamber of Deputies presented this Monday (17) a representation asking the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) to investigate the complaint that the government of President Jair Bolsonaro took advantage of an official trip to the United Arab Emirates to negotiate a new spy tool for the so-called “hate office”.
According to a report by Jamil Chade and Lucas Valença at Uol, a representative of “cabinet of hate” that was part of the presidential entourage in Dubai last year spoke with a representative of the company DarkMatter at the aerospace fair known as Dubai AirShow, with the interest of providing the parallel group with a powerful spy tool, to be used, especially, in the election year.
The intelligence and counterintelligence specialist, whose name was not disclosed, responds unofficially to the Rio de Janeiro councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicans). The DarkMatter is mostly made up of Israeli programmers from Unit 8200, elite hacking force linked to the Israeli army .
“Actual and potential threats to Brazilian citizens, their institutions and, especially, to the democratic electoral process are underway this time that is coming, so that preventive measures must be adopted to prevent such crimes and to hold those involved responsible, if applicable”, points out the lawsuit filed by the PT. “Any type of espionage must be repudiated by the Brazilian State, especially when it aims exclusively to benefit the private interests of the presidential family and of their minions, to the detriment of Brazilian institutions and society”, says the document.
The PT parliamentarians also recall that the hate office had already tried to buy spy technology before .
Pegasus
In May 2021, it was revealed that the government has opened a tender for the purchase of the Israeli spy tool Pegasus. According to a report by UOL portal, the purchase of the program and the opening of the bidding would have been articulated by Carlos Bolsonaro within what has been called “parallel Abin”.
This is because the auction would have been opened to the detriment of Abin itself, the person responsible for the intelligence services, together with the Ministry io of Justice, at the behest of President Jair Bolsonaro’s son.
As explained by Professor Bruno Huberman in ) blog Terra em Transe, on Forum
, “NSO Group is a very obscure company whose software would have already been used by the governments of Mexico and Saudi Arabia for political surveillance. Besides, of course, Palestinians and other Israeli enemies.”
