QNB allocates 33 branches to provide banking services to people with disabilities

I wrote – Manal Al-Masry: Qatar National Al Ahli Bank (QNB) announced the allocation of 33 branches dedicated to receiving and serving people of determination (people with physical disabilities) with the aim of achieving equality in providing services for all and spreading financial inclusion. The bank said on its website that the branches designated to receive people of determination are distributed in different areas, and are ergonomically designed to suit people with disabilities, such as the allocation of ramps. Persons who have mental deficiencies or defects wholly or partially are outside the scope of application of these instructions or mentally, according to the Central Bank. For people with disabilities, including the processing of 10% of the existing branches of the bank, as a minimum, distributed over all governorates to receive customers with disabilities in a manner commensurate with their disability.

The instructions included taking into account the application of the engineering code when establishing new branches, and that the branch be equipped and prepared to deal with customers with disabilities, while adhering to the instructions issued in May 2018 regarding security policies and procedures for securing the banking system, As well as providing easy ramps for customers to reach the building and ATMs.

The instructions also include the provision of doors that open automatically, the expansion of the entrance spaces in the bank’s branches, and the provision of elevators in the multi-storey branches if possible. The Central Bank also directed the banks to provide ATMs designated to facilitate the provision of banking services to customers with disabilities, at a rate of no less than 10% of the total number of machines at the bank distributed geographically across the country.
