Queensland to begin home quarantine trials on Monday

A date has been set for stranded Queenslanders to come home – with the state government to begin home quarantine trials from Monday.

There are, however, strict criteria for the thousands of people waiting to get into Queensland and only eight local government areas are involved in the trial.

These are Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, and Redlands.

Home quarantine is invitation only and just 1,000 Queenslanders will be selected to take part.

To be eligible, they must be a returning resident – not someone relocating – and they must be ready to go on Monday, be fully vaccinated, and have a free-standing home to quarantine in.

They must also have tested negative to COVID-19 72 hours before they travel and if living with anyone, those people must either move out or quarantine alongside the returned traveller.
