Randy Brown isn’t letting outside narratives around Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 194 co-main event with Jared Gooden spill into his mind.
Brown (13-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) is slotted as the betting favorite over Gooden (18-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in their welterweight matchup, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+. He’s well aware a lot of people are expecting him to win the fight, but he doesn’t want to be overconfident.
After doing his research on his opponent and going through a training camp, Brown knows exactly what he’s getting himself into by fighting Gooden, and he said it’s very important to maintain his focus.
“I feel like the general consensus is I’m going to go out there and beat him and run through him,” Brown told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 194 media day. “I don’t think that’s the case that I’m going to run through him. He’s a tough guy and I think he’s got big knockout power, a lot of heavy pressure and I think the UFC has put this fight together for a reason based on our styles.”
