Ratepay: Founder Miriam Wohlfarth is leaving her startup for good

30. September 2021: Fintech founder Miriam Wohlfarth is leaving the Ratepay she founded twelve years ago. A year ago she had already withdrawn from the operating business of the payment service provider in order to devote herself to a new project, again in the fintech segment. Since then she has built up the Banxware company. At the same time as Wohlfarth’s departure, CFO Sabrina Flunkert will join the management team. She originally came from the Swedish private equity investor EQT and runs the Berlin company together with CEO Nina Pütz. However, in order for Pütz to be able to become managing director as well, she still needs the aptitude test from the financial supervisory authority Bafin. (Source: Financefwd , ho.)

Naga: Christian Angermayer and Peter Thiel get in
19. September 2021: With his fund Elevat3, in which the well-known financier Peter Thiel has also invested, participates the German investor Christian Angermayer at the listed Hamburg fintech Naga . This is offered by a trading app of the same name and attracts with high profits – including the same risks. Elevat3 takes over 22 percent of the company as part of a capital increase. Berlin financing platform receives 20 million euros
14. September 2021: Fintech Modifi has received funding of 20 million euros. Investors thus rate the company at around 100 million euros. Series B is led by Frankfurt-based VC Heliad Equity Partners and Neva SGR, the VC fund of Italian bank Intesa San Paolo. Existing investors such as Global Founders Capital (GFC), Maersk Growth and Picus Capital have also participated. Coinbase uses Solarisbank in Germany
25. August: The US crypto exchange Coinbase cooperates with Solarisbank to identify customers in Germany. The bank from Berlin provides their bankident solution for this. The customer logs into an existing bank account and triggers a cent transaction to identify himself as the account holder. Coinbase was recently launched in this country and has the crypto trading and custody license from the financial supervisory authority Bafin. Berliner Fintech Barzahlen sold again
23. August 2021 : The Berlin payment service provider Barzahlen has been sold again. As the industry portal Financefwd reports, the Austrian fintech Paysafe is taking over the company behind Barzahlen, Viafintech GmbH. The talk is officially of a purchase price “in the lower double-digit million euro range”. Barzahl became known through the feature of paying for online purchases at supermarket checkouts with cash. The company, founded in 2011, later introduced a cashback program. It is already the second exit for Barzahlen.
