Facebook reinstated an account associated with conservative children’s book publisher Heroes of Liberty after it shut down the children’s publisher’s ads offering biographical books on former President Ronald Reagan, economist Thomas Sowell and Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
The platform claimed that Heroes of Liberty violated the site’s rules against “Low Quality or Disruptive Content”. When asked about the decision, Facebook communicated that the decision, which took effect on December 23, was permanent.
“Upon a final review of this ad account, we confirmed that it was not in compliance with our Advertising Policies or other standards. You can no longer advertise with this ad account and your ads and assets will remain disabled. This is our final decision,” the statement read.
Bethany Mandel, editor of Heroes of Liberty, used her Twitter account to describe Facebook’s decision as “devastating”, noting that the editor, launched in mid-November, started investing in Facebook marketing four months earlier.
According to CBN News, approximately one hour later From the tweet, Andy Stone, director of political communications for Facebook’s parent company Meta, responded, claiming that the banning of Heroes of Liberty was a mistake.
“This shouldn’t have happened. It was a mistake and the ad account was restored,” he wrote.
According to Mandel, she never received any explanation from Facebook about how Heroes of Liberty promotions were never violating the platform’s policies.
