Apple has ransomed a US class action lawsuit with a high double-digit million amount. The class action charged the group with providing false information to customers and serious violations of local warranty laws, among other things. According to a report by MacRumors the sum of the so-called settlement amounts to 95 million US dollars , which corresponds to around 80 million euros at the current rate.

The out-of-court settlement, now reached without recognition of any legal obligation, is said to wash American customers who have received such products between 63.4 and 68.1 million dollars into their wallets – the lawyers will receive the rest of the sum. Claims can be made via a
new website , there should also be direct letters and emails. How much money there is for individual people is still unclear, the sum should be evenly distributed among those affected. Dismissal failed
Apple had initially attempted the lawsuit to be rejected in principle, but failed . Apple had always insisted on doing the right thing. Refurbished hardware is no inferior to new goods. It remains unclear whether anything will change in the Group’s approach in the future. The process only applies to the United States of America, but Apple is also issuing refurb hardware to repair candidates in Europe. The parties in the dispute now want to have their settlement approved by the court by October 20th.
